Thanks to VFBF Organization. You have made us proud to be the kind of young adults are today. What you have done for us nobody can take it away. We now have the foundation that gives us courage and readiness to champion for the rights of young adults, especially girls and women in our community. Thanks a lot.
VFBF made it possible for me to finish the studies for my degree program in a timely manner. VFBF assisted me with lodging, academic supplies and transportation to and from home. BFBF picked the costs my family was unable to absorb and allowed me to relax and study. I shall forever be grateful for their kind and generous support.” Of special note is that Eric secured a teaching position with the Kenyan Department of Education effective September 2018.
She plans to complete the whole degree program by year 2020. ‘Coming from a family of four children of which I am the oldest, it was hard for me to access higher education owing to my family’s financial challenges. Your support has transformed my life and my family. Going to university has inspired my younger siblings in a tremendous way. Two of them are in high school and are seriously considering pursuing college education. Your support has opened career opportunities for me in the business world. It has changed the way I think and perceive things.’
VFBF provided the partial financial support I desperately needed to complete my degree program in Community Development and Empowerment. Whenever I have time and other resources I go out in my community and share my experiences by talk to young women and school girls that are going through hardship just to encourage them.” Of special note is that Wanjiro is already working for a national establishment. Active VFBF students are given the opportunity to shape the aspects of their future. It is on behalf of each of these participants that we, the Board of Directors, extend our sincere thanks to all of our donors and volunteers for their generous support.

Gerard Guantai is a widower and a Mau-Mau veteran. He’s 95 years and has received assistance from 1917. He observes, “If our government has a system similar to VFBF’s for assisting the elderly with badly needed food supplies and medicines, life would be easy and some us could live longer… God bless BFBF.”
Leah Matiiri is the oldest participant of the VFBF client population. She is 115 years old, a widow, and has received general support from the foundation since year 2015. She records, “VFBF picked me up and treated me like a dear child. Please don’t stop what you’re doing for me. Each day I wake up and find a worm drink of porridge…it’s a miracle… God bless.”
Ida Nairobi is in her late 90s. She and her husband live alone and depend on help provided by the caring neighbors. Ida can’t walk even to the toilet. She’s bathed and changed like a baby. They have received assistance from VFBF since 2017. They feel that by “VFBF stepping in with food items and painkillers on a monthly basis is like manna falling from heaven. God be with all of you.”
Kirimi Mucheke is aged 50 and physically challenged. He was born with both hands at half-size. He has a family of four and lives below poverty levels. He states, “I consider VFBF as a father to me. The moment they recognized my challenges in 2015, help started coming every month including quarterly academic assistance to my oldest daughter who is a senior at Kiangua Secondary School. I pray for the organization and the village committee daily.”
Mutunga Muthaara is 93 years old and has been a widower for over fifteen years. His beloved wife died of natural causes. Thank you VFBF for your helping-hand.”
Agnes Mwiandi is a single mother. She is aged 65 and has been living alone for quite some time. She notes that, “unlike families where everyone chips in, a single mother has to depend on her two hands and God’s mercy. God sent VFBF to my home just to keep me going… I hope and pray that this flow of kindness will never stop.”
Madline Mwongeera is 79 years old and a widow. She has issues with “BP” and blood sugar. She records, “when VFBF’s field committee informed that I’ve been accepted for assistance with nutritious food items and occasional blood pressure tests along with off-the-counter pills, I felt God’s favor all around. This miracle occurred early this year and has continued month-to-month…. I’m so thankful.”
Beth Thambu is 75, a widow, and peasant farmer. She takes care of a few grand children left behind by her daughter who had returned home when her husband perished. Magambo Ngaruni is Mau Mau civil war veteran. He has lived for 92 years. His wife Phyllis is close in age but is in ill-health. She is recovering from breast cancer surgery that she underwent two years ago. While Magamco is in good health, Phyllis has other age related challenges that keeps her on a chair most of the day. They don’t have medical or health coverage because Kenya does not have any form of welfare system. “We thank VFBF for the monthly support of food, medical supplies, blood pressure evaluations, and discipleship.”
Kanyiri Mutuamwari is 82 and a widower. He lost his wife to malignant cancer five years ago. He shares; as a peasant farmer with only a meager income, medical bills and doctor’s visits can be cumbersome. I suffer from asthma and high blood pressure and need to see a doctor occasionally. An asthma attack often requires hospitalization. I have coverage for just hospitalization but that’s about it. The overall help that VFBF has provided since 2016 and continues to deliver has been quite a blessing that I consider a God’s gift. I pray that VFBF will reach out and touch more people in similar situations.”
